Fun, Fast and Easy Ponytail Styles.

 Stepping up your Ponytail game.

I always get asked about fun, fast and easy hairstyles for everyday. Immediately ponytails pop into my mind. There are so many different ways to switch up the look of your ponytail, that anyone can achieve.

Below are 4 simple ways to take your ponytail to the next level.

This ponytail upgrade is super easy. Simply partthe hair on each side of your head from the back of the ears and secure. Then pull the rest of your hair into a ponytail. Unsecure the two sections and wrap them around the ponytail securing with bobby pins.

Fishtail braids are so hot right now. For this style, simply pull all your hair back into a ponytail then wrap the base of the ponytail with hair from underneath the ponytail and secure with a bobby pin. Start braiding the ponytail into a fishtail braid, only braiding about a quarter of the ponytail. After that secure the braid with an elastic ponytail holder and wrap hair around the ponytail holder as you did at the base of the ponytail.

This is my favorite ponytail upgrade! The knot ponytail. All you do is divide the hair into 2 equal parts and make a knot. Hold the first knot tightly then make another knot. Secure the ponytail with an elastic ponytail holder and wrap hair around it then secure with a bobby pin.

Last but not least, this incredibly fun ponytail style. To create this look, start by Dutch braiding your hair on either side of your part. Once your braid has reached behind your ear, stop adding hair to it and finish the braid, securing with an elastic ponytail holder. Pull the rest of your hair into a ponytail then wrap the end of your braid around the base of your ponytail and secure with a bobby pin.

I hope you'll be able to incorporate these 4 styles when you feel like your hair is in need a change up.

Matching Hairstyles

How to create matching hairstyles for sister or mother & daughters.

I LOVE learning to create new styles and watching tutorials. Having 2 girls I mostly watch tutorials for young girl hairstyles. Creating something that is fun and young is my favorite but my girls are 6 years apart. So a style that looks good on my 6 year old doesn't always appeal to my 12 year old. I found 3 young girl hairstyles that I was able to tweak enough for my 12 year old and still have them matching. These styles are perfect for sisters, cousins, friends and even mother & daughters.

Check them out below.

Style #1 : Bow

I'm starting with my favorite! Who doesn't love to have a bow in their hair? On the left is Lorena where I pulled her hair half up and the hair that was pulled back was made into a bow. Isabella, on the right, has all her hair pulled up into a bun and the hair that was left out of the bun was made into a bow. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Style 2 : Twisted Braid

How cute is this?! This style was super simple. If you know how to do a 3 strand braid, you'll be able to create this style. Let's start with Isabella, on the right. I pulled her hair half up, braided the hair that was pulled back then twisted that braid around itself and pinned in place. Now for Lorena, on the left, I sectioned her hair into 3 equal sized sections and used hair ties to secure the sections. Then braided each section, twisted the braids around itself to create a braided Mohawk. I would wear either style. Which one is your favorite?

Style 3 : Pull Through Braided Crown

My third and final matching style is a pull through braided crown. Now it is the most complicated style but totally worth it. For each girl I made equal sized sections around her hairline. Then starting with a section behind the ear, you split that into 2 sections. Bring those sections around the section in front and secure with a hair tie. Continue to do that adding hair from each section until all the sections are gone then hide the end of the braid and secure with bobby pins. This is such a cute style that lasted all day!

New Year, New You!

Fresh look to start the New Year!

Happy 2017! I hope you all had an amazing start to this New Year. Its a new beginning to so many things.

Are you ready to start this New Year with a fresh new look? If you answered yes but are unsure of where to start, I am here to help!

One of the easiest way to change up your look is with a new haircut.  You want to flatter your best features. So you start by answering one simple question, what is my face shape ?

I always found it hard in the beginning of my career to determine my client's face shape. Once I did a little research and found some helpful tips, it was easy to create the perfect haircut for them.

Below are the tips that help me :

Round/Circle

  • Petite face
  • Soft jawline
  • Soft cheekbones

Best haircuts for round/circle face shapes are long with long wispy layers. Be sure to avoid short one-length blunt cuts, like a classic bob.

Oval

  • Long face
  • Round jawline
  • Soft cheekbones

Best haircuts for oval face shapes are angular bobs with layers that fall around the cheekbones, lip or chin. If you have thick, curly hair be sure to stay away from blunt short haircuts.

Square

  • Petite face
  • Square jawline
  • Sharp cheekbones

Best haircuts for square face shapes are super short edgy cuts or long with long sleek layers. It would be best to stay away from wide blunt bangs.

Oblong

  • Long face
  • Square jawline
  • Sharp/low cheekbones

Best haircuts for oblong face shapes are chin length bobs with shorter layers. I would avoid pixie cuts or going longer then the collarbone in length.

Diamond

  • Long face with a small chin
  • Square/sharp jawline
  • Prominent/high cheekbones

Best haircuts for diamond face shapes are long bobs with lots of texture. Try to avoid one-length bobs with severe bangs.

Heart

  • Small chin
  • Round jawline
  • Prominent high cheekbones

Best haircuts for heart face shapes are long with long layers falling around your cheekbones and a soft bang. Try to avoid short blunt bangs.

Time to get Glamorous for the Holidays!

Holiday Makeup Tips

'Tis the season where your weekends are filled with Holiday parties. You'll walk into a sea of ugly Christmas sweaters and crazy shenanigans. One thing that won't get you a party foul is yourholiday makeup. Below are simple guidelines to get you looking, and feeling GLAMOROUS!

First thing first, winterizing your skin care routine. After a couple sub zero days, I bet your skin is needing some extra TLC. HYRDRATE, HYDRATE,HYDRATE. Not only do you need a heavier moisturizer during the colder months but consuming 8 cups of water daily is a must! Once you check that off your list, be sure to exfoliate 2-3 times a month with a gentle sugar scrub, being sure to stay clear of the eye area. On the day you're exfoliating, follow up with a hydrating or deep cleaning mask. Finally slather on a nice moisturizer, remember a little bit thicker then the one you would use during the summer. Take a minute to enjoy your ultra smooth face.

Now time to get glamorous!

Before applying any makeup, start with a primer. I like to use a face primer all over my face then eye shadow primer on my eyelids. Using a makeup primer is sure way for your everything to stay put through all your Holiday fun.

Have any skin imperfections to hide? Grab a concealer a shade lighter then your skin color, tab where necessary then blend with a beauty sponge. POOF GONE!

Next up, foundation. Find one that matches your natural skin tone and dab in small batches on your chin, cheeks and forehead. Have that beauty sponge handy? Blend away evenly to ensure a flawless finish.

Time to amplify the those cheekbones with highlighter. Use a light hand when applying ,you don't want to be mistaken for the strobe light.

Now smile! Find the apples of your cheeks, softly apply blush to give you a soft glow.

Make your eyes pop with precise eyebrows. Get a eyebrow pencil that's a shade lighter then your hair and follow the natural line of your brows.

Give depth and definition to your eyes with three shades of eye shadow. Apply the lightest right under your eye brow, use the medium shade on your lid and the darkest in your crease. Blend with blender brush to get rid of any obvious lines. If you want to have a super bold eye, use a heavy hand with the darkest shade in your crease.

Eyeliner will complete your look. Make sure to apply it as close to your lash line as possible. Use a felt tip liner for a precise line or crayon liner to smudge to achieve a smoky look. Finally apply mascara to separate, lengthen, and plump those lashes.

Pull everything together with lipstick. Line your lips with a liner one to two shades darker then your lips then using your fingertip blend. Then apply lipstick evenly all over your lips and finally a layer of gloss.

HELLO GORGEOUS! Time to P-A-R-T-Y-! Who's that beautiful girl in the mirror ready for her Holiday Party?

I hope these tips helped you achieve the glamorous holiday look for all your festivities.

If these tips seemed overwhelming and you're asking yourself, what is makeup primer? Call me at 724.290.4634 and treat yourself to an airbrush makeup application, come into the salon or let me come to you.
